Public Lecture Articles Psychology in Practice

On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, a Public Lecture was held with the theme "Psychology in Practice" at the Drost Room, 4th Floor, Central Building, University of Sanata Dharma, Campus III Paingan. The event starts at 07.00 to 13.00 which is guided by Dr. Aquilina Tanti Arini. This activity aims to socialize the application of Psychology in various fields of employment. This public lecture invited three quality speakers, namely Agnes Dewanti Purnomowardhani M.Sc, Psychologist as a practitioner at Panti Rapih Hospital & Siloam Hospital Yogyakarta, Kompol Angela Yohana S.Psi, M.Psi, Psychologist, as Head of the Personal Psychologist Section of the Psychology Section of the DIY Regional Police HR Bureau, and Drs Yoyok Agoes Firmanto, as Director of Human Resources Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta.

When presenting the material, Drs. Yoyok Agoes Firmanto as Director of Human Resources, Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta said that Indonesia this day has a duty to catch up with other countries due to the lack of optimizing the intelligence of human resources in Indonesia because civilization is still lagging behind in Indonesia so that this knowledge cannot be applied in Indonesia. Therefore, he said that a quantum leap is needed to catch up with this civilization so that in 2045 Indonesia will reach its golden age. However, there are definitely challenges that must be faced by the Indonesian nation, namely highly skilled talents, competence and communication, and creativity which are what Indonesian people need in the future. Commissioner Angela Yohana MK, S.Psi, M.Psi, as the Head of the Psychology Subdivision, the DIY Regional Police HR Bureau said that being part of psychology in the Indonesian police, of course, the body also needs to be prepared, such as running, swimming and other sports. Even though the field that we take in the National Police is psychology, what we still see is a healthy body, health, academics, and psychology. He also briefly explained his duties as a police psychologist namely handling suspect cases, counseling detainees, and examining cases in the media. provide assistance to perpetrators and families of perpetrators and provide guidance to parents of children on the streets. So when can psychology be applied to the police? After being declared to have passed the competency test, there will be 6 months of training with all other National Police colleagues. He said that when we started working, the science of psychology began to be used.

The event was closed by the presentation of material from the third speaker, namely Agnes Dewanti Purnomowardanti M. Si, Psychologist as a Practitioner at Panti Rapih Hospital & Siloam Hospital Yogyakarta. He said that where there are humans, psychology knowledge is definitely needed to carry out psychological examinations, mental health assistance, and various other tasks. For this reason, psychologists must have the desire to continue to learn and refresh the science of psychology consistently. According to him, psychologists must have adaptive thinking because we cannot equate the past with today. Many clients come from different age ranges, so another way of thinking is needed to provide counseling for clients. The Public Lecture activities ended with a question and answer session and photos with the speakers.
