Every two years, usually in February, Nanzan University from Japan sends some students to study Indonesian language and culture in the Language Institute of Sanata Dharma University (Lembaga Bahasa) for 2-3 weeks. This year was like an ‘attack’ since it was not only two or five or even ten students who came, but it was 22 Japanese students!! It was a big number. However, the teachers were so happy because they could meet 22 great students. Those fantastic students are Mitsuru, Minami, Kanako Hirata, Yurie, Yukiko, Yuria, Mai, Ikumi, Kanako Ninomiya, Kanako Ito, Ayano, Asuka, Akane, Moe, Ami, Natsumi, Nami, Naoka, Natsumi Yamamoto, Anna, Satomi, and Natsumi Inamoto. Fortunately, those students didn’t come alone. There were some supervisors (their lecturer) who accompanied them such as Bapak Moriyama, Ibu Kobayashi, and Rm. Daros.
As usual, the students stayed in family homestay which enabled them to experience living in Indonesian family. Almost all students enjoyed their homestay. They enjoyed the meals, cooked the dinner, took a bath with cold water, etc.
Besides learning Indonesian language, they also took some cultural classes such as gamelan class, silver class and Batik class. They also went to Beringharjo traditional market to practice their language and to practice bargaining. For the tours, they visited Kraton Yogyakarta, Taman Sari, and Borobudur Temple. In the middle of the program, they had a small seminar about Japanese culture. This seminar was attended by Sanata Dhama university students and lecturers from Indonesian Letters department and also by some Lembaga Bahasa teachers.
A special closing ceremony closed this program. In this closing ceremony, there were some performances from the Lembaga Bahasa teachers, tutors, and of course from Nanzan university students. The students enjoyed the last night in Indonesia by having dinner with homestay family and teachers and also by taking many photos with them. So, we are waiting for the next Nanzan attack! In 2016!!! See you! (^-^)!
