In April (19-26), some young, attractive, fun, handsome, beautiful, and energetic students from Australia came to study Indonesian language at the Lembaga Bahasa Universitas Sanata Dharma. It’s just one week but during that week they learnt much thing not only about the language itself but also about Indonesian Culture. Actually they came from different school, from Scotch College and from Como Secondary School. While travelling in Jogja, they were accompanied by their Australian teachers. Some of them are Ibu Kate from Scotch College and Ibu Penny from Como Secondary School. It was the third time for Scotch College and the second time for Como Secondary School to come to Lembaga Bahasa Universitas Sanata Dharma for studying Indonesian language and culture.
Yeayy!! It’s really really late actually but we will post this news to show that they were so amazing students! There were 15 students who learned Indonesian for a week. They were placed to different level based on their language competence. In learning Indonesian, the students also were accompanied by their private tutors. The academic tutors were actually Sanata Dharma students and recruited by Lembaga Bahasa. Besides learning Indonesian, they also learned how to make “Jamu” (it’s one of Indonesian traditional herbal drinks) with Ibu Narto. Their days in Yogyakarta became more fun by visiting some beautiful places in Yogyakarta, taking a Batik class, going to traditional market, cycling in a village, cooking some traditional foods, which all of them were managed by Mas Gilang and Mas Dimas from ACICIS.
To end their days in Yogyakarta, Lembaga Bahasa presented a special closing ceremony for them. In this closing ceremony, some students from both school performed a special and nice performance. Not only the students, but also the teachers performed their fantastic dance, Poco-Poco, so they showed their talents by modifying the dance into their own style. It was more powerful and fun. Then, a special lunch closed the event that day. It was amazing. We hope that they will come again next year!! Thank you very much Scotch College and Como Secondary School, nice to meet you all!!!
