Play Performance is an annual event held by students majoring in the English Letters Department of Sanata Dharma University. This event presents a drama musical which is prepared for around nine months and fully supported by the selected actors, actresses, and committees. Every year, there will be a different theme of Play Performance which is becoming a project for each batch in the English Letters Department. Therefore, in this Play Performance 2023, it became a project for the class of 2019. The total number of the committees are 115 members divided into 19 divisions. Furthermore, there are 13 actors and actresses as well.

Play Performance is one of the agenda to promote English Letters Department for the high schoolers. As a result, this performance will be performed prior to the start of the next student admissions season at the end of next June 2023. Inspired by the previous performance, the committee of Play Performance 2023 decided to write our own script entitled HARSA. This performance is inspired by the committee's observations of social issues that are frequently apparent in daily life in the community, especially about family issues. Apart from providing a forum for the expression, creativity, and development of the humanities side of students in the English Literature Study Program at Sanata Dharma University, this performance invites the audience to reflect on social issues such as mental health and family problems that are prevalent in our society.

HARSA is a story of a family with three children who are treated differently, resulting in different characteristics for each kid, which is always a difficulty for parents. This also has an impact on their personal behavior. In Javanese Sanskrit, HARSA means happiness but in this Play Performance 2023, we're going to show the irony of happiness itself. How the happiness of every family should be, but in fact there's so many conflicts and problems happening in the family, especially in the HARSA family.

The aim of this performance is to communicate indirectly to the audience about the family values. Maintaining bonds with the family, which is the child's initial environment, is very important. Moreover, from this play performance, it can inspire all the audience to be more aware of the condition in their family and environment around them. The Play Performance production team also hopes that the audience will get the moral values from this performance and become wiser in their daily lives.
