Introduction to English Sociolinguistics (Enrichment Course)
The course is designed to introduce students to fundamental concepts of sociolinguistics. It
elaborates underlying principles that come into play in describing language use and society.
Besides, it deals with various issues in sociolinguistics. The topics addressed among others
are language varieties, language choice, language change and politeness. The course also
discusses the importance of sociolinguistics for language teaching.
