This course is designed to introduce students to English novels, develop basic understanding of reading abridged and unabridged novels and increase their interest and enjoyment of reading literary works, in particular novels. Throughout the course, students are to read four (4) different novels, comprising two (2) simplified/abridged novels, and two (2) original/unabridged one. Students will write a book report for each novel they read, including the information about the book, setting of place and time, characters’ names and descriptions, conflict, theme, summary, and personal opinion about the novel. This course is offered in Semester II. There is no prerequisite course for Book Report.
