|Thirteen students of the English Language Education Study Programme of Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta will be sitting for defence or oral exams on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, on 21, 22 and 24 May 2018 in the exam rooms in SDU campus one, Mrican, Sleman, Yogyakarta. One of the theses defended for the oral exams in May was on pragmatics, a branch of linguistics, which can be defined as "the study of the aspects of meaning and language use that are dependent on the speaker, the addressee and other features of the context of utterance (https://glossary.sil.org/term/pragmatics)". The thesis, which was written by Evan Yulian Philaret, of batch 2014, explored illocutionary acts of memes about a fire disaster.
