Since its establishment in 2001, the Graduate Programme in English Language Studies, Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta has produced 170 graduates working across different career paths such as teachers, lecturers, curriculum developers, text-book writers, entrepreneurs, and other pertinent professions in Indonesia and overseas.
Lamentably, there has not been any official meeting or reunion of ELS alumni since then, except for some occasional encounters through conferences, workshops, faculty visits and various personal as well as social engagements and/or activities.
It is a high time and desirable that we need an association to strengthen our network to reach all the alumni. Thus, out of the recent department’s meeting in Kaliurang on 27 April 2013 attended by six faculty members and four alumni, resolution was made to form the Association of English Language Studies Alumni (AESLA). AESLA is to provide intellectual stimulation through practical new ideas discussed, shared and exchanged by us and for us (can be faculty member or alumni) as well as prominent guest speakers (on certain occasions). AESLA is also to enhance social contacts by renewing old friendships and making new ones.
