The 8th Graduate Students Conference, organized by the students of the Graduate Program in English Language Studies, was held on May 25th. This conference held as an annual event since 2012 is aimed at providing a scholarly forum for expressing ideas and enriching knowledge related to English Language Studies in various perspectives.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Rebuilding Legitimacy in a Post-Truth Age Through Language, Education, and Literature Studies”. This theme was chosen as the concern of phenomena that mostly happen nowadays in both social media and real life. Furthermore, this theme encompasses all the streams in English Language Studies such as linguistics, education, and literature. In addition, this theme can encourage the researches to be more critical in encountering the phenomena happening in a post-truth age.
There were two sessions in this conference which were the plenary session and the parallel sessions. The plenary session was with Dr. J. Haryatmoko, S.J. who is the Director of Pusat Pelatihan Etika Indonesia and lecturer in Universitas Indonesia,Universitas Sanata Dharma, and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian Nasional. The other session is the parallel sessions which gave the 37 presenters a forum to deliver their enlightening papers.
