As a collaboration with Sanata Dharma University, St. Paul University Philippines is sending nine students accompanied by a lecturer named Rucel J Pugeda to have academic and culture exchanges. They are learning about Indonesian cultures for a few days and it is planned that the students are going to experience learning in some classes at Informatics Engineering Department of Sanata Dharma University.
The first day orientation opened on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Ruang Kadarman of Sanata Dharma University by the Vice President IV of Sanata Dharma University, Bapak FX. Ouda Teda Ena, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ed.D. and the Head of the International Office, Ibu Yurisdixta Menavia, S.S.
The first orientation aimed to introduce the students of St. Paul University Philippines to Sanata Dharma itself, where they are going to have classes here, and about Indonesian cultures and the people’s customs. Therefore, Sanata Dharma as the host of the programs has already prepared some interesting activities for the students. The programs are mostly related to the cultures such as playing Gamelan music instruments, dancing traditional dance, making Batik painting, Making Batik Wooden Puppet, and Making Silver Craft at Kotagede.
Along with their stay in Indonesia, the students of St. Paul University Philippines will be accompanied by peer partners, who are the student helpers of the International Office and who will be the interpreters for the students while they are in Indonesia.
Those students of St. Paul University Philippines are going to stay in Indonesia for about a week until August 31, 2017. Hopefully, by this first student exchange with Sanata Dharma University, the programs will be beneficial for the students of both universities and the collaboration will continue to further develop into a regular annual event
